On May 27, 2017, masked gunmen opened fire on a bus carrying Coptic Christians to St.
Samuel the Confessor’s Monastery south of Cairo. This tragedy took the lives of 29 Copts, 10 of whom were children, and left dozens injured.
One of those who were killed in this attach is Mr. Mohsen Morkos, a member of St. George Coptic Orthodox Church in Monee, IL. His wife, Mrs. Samia Adly is one of the survival. She is currently being treated in a hospital in Egypt. Mr. Mohsen and his wife were on a vacation to visit their two sons and daughter in Egypt who were also with them on the bus and died on the scene.
